Darcy Nybo, Publisher

Darcy Nybo is an editor, freelance writer, researcher, proofreader, author and writing instructor. She’s the one responsible for organizing the team and liaising with the author to ensure everyone gets the best experience possible in the creation, production and launching of the book. Being at the helm of Artistic Warrior feeds her penchant for words and her need to help others succeed. Darcy also dabbles in creating book covers and does most of the layout for her authors. She also loves to help market her authors’ books. A true team player, she’ll help you maneuver your way through the sometimes confusing world of publishing your book.


Sharlene McNeill, Illustrator

Sharlene McNeill Illustrator

Sharlene McNeill was born in Kettering, England. She started painting at the tender age of four, butt naked in the garden with her easel and a tub of poster paint. She graduated from the Arts Institute of Bournemouth, UK (BA, Hons) and loves creating narrative and concept art. She paints and sketches things from the natural world in a wide variety of mediums. Sharlene has illustrated two children’s books, (Bark, Swat, Crunch! and Emma Jean Finds a Friend) and created the covers for Dark Moments and Read My Shorts for Artistic Warrior’s authors.


Dawn Renaud, Editor/Proofreader

For decades, writing was a hobby for Dawn. Several years ago couple of her short stories caught the eye of a magazine editor who offered to pay her for her words. Writing is still a passion for Dawn, one she has turned into a career. Her attention to detail and love of stories make her a great editor, proofreader and formatter. It gives her great pleasure to provide assistance with your manuscript, from critique to editing to proofreading the final product.


Gaby Knodel, Illustrator

Gaby Knodel

Gaby Knodel has been creating art since she was a child. She is self taught and formally educated in art. Gaby attended College and UBC, served five years with the Department of National Defense, and currently lives in Kelowna, BC, with her husband, son, and furry children. Gaby is also a member of the Creative Signmakers of America. She illustrated the Great Grape Adventure and Ten Little Stories for Artistic Warrior’s authors. You can see more of Gaby’s work here.


Jodi Quibell, Editor/Proofreader

Jodi Jodie loves words; well that, and her family. She has her own company and does contract work as a writer and blogger for several area businesses. Her attention to detail and her desire to help others create pieces of writing that are clear and concise, make her a great addition to the Artistic Warrior team. When Jodi’s not being a great editor and proofreader, she can be found hard at work as the Executive Director at The Save Kindness Society. 


LeEtta LaFontaine, Illustrator

LeEttaLeEtta LaFontaine is an accomplished artist who has experienced success in many mediums. Drawing is LeEtta’s passion, especially with charcoal on canvas. An image rendered in pencil or charcoal has a timeless quality and soon becomes a family heirloom. LeEtta has co-authored three books, two of sketches and one of photography.  She has exhibited her work in shows throughout BC as well as in the PNE show home. She did the illustrations for the upcoming book, Okanagan Tall Tales.


Donna Szelest, Design

DonnaDonna Szelest is a highly creative art director with years of experience with magazines and books. When things at Artistic Warrior get too hectic to manage, Donna is brought in to do layout and help with book cover design.  She is a mother, wife, and an advocate for all animals. She is currently upgrading her skills at BCIT. Donna create Merl Oh, the tour guide in The Great Grape Adventure, for Artistic Warrior.


Magdalene Carson, Design/Illustrator

MagdaleneCarsonMagdalene Carson lives and breathes publishing. Beyond the technical considerations, she is first and foremost an artist and designer. She completed her studies in Architectural Art at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario. Magdalene has the skill to express the essence of your content in visual form. She specializes in design and illustrations. She created the covers for More than a Wise Woman, and Wise Woman’s Manor.
